Chelsea join Manchester United in race for ‘next Raphael Varane

According to rumors, Manchester United and Tottenham are on high alert, with Chelsea preparing to enter the competition for Jean-Clair Todibo.

The three Premier League clubs are interested in the Nice defender, who is expected to leave the Allianz Riviera later this month or in the summer.

Tottenham was expected to be first in line to sign Todibo, who was a periphery component of Barcelona’s La Liga-winning squad in 2018/19.

However, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Spurs may be poised to withdraw from the race due to the difficulty of completing a deal swiftly.

The north Londoners are set to focus on Genoa’s Radu Dragusin, potentially paving the way for one of Manchester United or Chelsea.

Last summer, United were connected with Todibo, but Harry Maguire’s decision to stay at Old Trafford made a deal for the 24-year-old impossible.

However, now that Jim Ratcliffe has completed his purchase of a minority part in the club, the Red Devils may attempt again this month.

However, according to Foot Mercato, Chelsea have surfaced as potential suitors for Todibo, who has been compared to Raphael Varane in France.

The Blues have not been afraid to spend money in the first 18 months of Todd Boehly’s ownership, and Mauricio Pochettino wants to strengthen his team in the winter window.

According to the French tabloid, Pochettino is dissatisfied with his defensive alternatives, with Todibo being one of his top objectives.

Chelsea already has a relationship with the player’s agent, Bruno Satin, and preliminary discussions have begun.

Todibo has a contract with Nice until 2027, and the French club is expected to seek at least £40 million for the France international.
