Marta Kostyuk joked about holding a driver’s license over Elena Rybakina at the 2024 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final, which features a Porsche automobile.Kostyuk upset sixth seed Marketa Vondrousova, 7-6 (2), 6-2, to go to the Stuttgart Open final. She will take on Rybakina, who defeated World No. 1 Iga Swiatek 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the second quarterfinal.
During the post-match on-court interview, Elena Rybakina was questioned if she could drive as fast as she could hit the ball. The debate arose because of the alluring reward for the winner of the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart: a Porsche Taycan 4S Sport Turismo electric car.In response, Rybakina revealed that she does not yet have a driver’s license. “You can hit the ball very quickly; is this how you drive as well?” the interviewer inquired on-court. “Well, fellas, I actually don’t have a driver’s license. So, of course, that will be the goal. Rybakina stated, “I mean, I’ve wanted it for a long time, so that’s a good motivation.”
Following Elena Rybakina’s semifinal against Iga Swiatek, Marta Kostyuk faced Vondrousova on the court. Following the Ukrainian’s victory, during the post-match on-court interview with former German tennis player Andrea Petkovic, Kostyuk was questioned if she had a driver’s license, to which she firmly responded in the affirmative. “We’ve heard that Elena does not have a driver’s license. Does Marta hold a driver’s license?” Petkovic asked. “Yes, of course I do (laughing),” Kostyuk replied.
Marta Kostyuk defeated three top-10 players in a row to reach the Stuttgart Open final. She defeated World No. 7 Qinwen Zheng in the second round, No. 3 Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals, and No. 8 Marketa Vondrousova in the semifinals.During the post-match on-court interview, Kostyuk was asked to reflect on her tremendous victories. The World No. 27 noted that she began her career with zero victories and 14 losses against the top ten players, and she is working to close that gap. “I mean, I don’t think a lot of people know, but I started my career love 14 (0-14) against the top ten players, and I’m really trying to, you know, catch up with the number,” Kostyuk
Kostyuk said it felt “incredible” to overcome three top-10 opponents in a row. She also expressed her desire to win a Grand Slam championship soon.
