Kevin De Bruyne reveals the position he sees Phil Foden playing in for Man City

Man City won 4-0 at Brighton, closing the gap on league leaders Arsenal by one point.

De Bruyne started the goal with a stunning header, followed by a brace from Foden to put his side three up before the break.

After winning a contentious free kick, his shot deflected into the back of the net. He subsequently capitalized on a Brighton error to score his second goal of the evening.

Julian Alvarez added a fourth after the hour mark to give the Blues a significant win on the road as they aim for their fourth Premier League title in a row.

Foden has already scored an incredible 16 league goals this season and 24 goals overall.

He’s having the best goal-scoring season of his young career and has been quite effective for his side.

The 23-year-old has been playing on the left wing under Pep Guardiola, but following last night’s victory, De Bruyne feels the star player will end up in a central position.

“He’ll end up being central,” he told Sky Sports. “I spotted him from the start; it takes a long to adjust to a Pep team.

“Now he’s trusted central, and Phil’s been doing this for seven years. He’s been doing this for years and has helped us win trophies.”

Foden himself remarked, “I see myself as central.” I’ve gone inside, and it’s been a huge help, as has playing with the greatest in the world, such as Kevin De Bruyne.

“I prefer playing in the middle because it allows me to score a lot of goals and create stuff. I’m enjoying my football and playing with freedom.”

Man City appear to have a ready-made replacement for De Bruyne when he leaves the Etihad.

The Belgian international will reach 33 by the time next season rolls around, and Foden is expected to adopt a central role in the future.
